Daycare centers around the state were part of Gov. Tom Wolf’s two-week closure of non-essential businesses, but some daycares and parents may be in luck.
Child care operating out of residences can continue to do so without a waiver.
Daycares can request waivers to remain open to care for the children of essential personnel, like first responders and health care workers.
The need for day care is essential for many individuals, especially those providing critical healthcare functions. We need to be cautious, follow the guidance of the CDC and exercise common sense. Equally important, we need to continue without allowing fear to push us to inaction. Day care operators, you provide a valuable service that is needed right now. Consider seeking a waiver and then announcing your intention to provide service.
