The emergency services of Schuylkill are called on many occasions to respond to accidents on state highways, interstate highways and local roadways within and outside of the county. This has been a long standing practice; however, too often there is little assistance from other agencies with primary responsibility for the incident scene or who have been contracted to secure the scene, clear the highway or restore the area to pre-incident condition.
In an effort to insure the safety and well-being of first response personnel from all disciplines, the county agencies and various associations have compiled information, developed guidance and reached out to many state agencies and elected and appointed officials. The primary concern should be a determination is the assignment can be accomplished in a safe manner and if there are sufficient resources available.
The following documents are provided for your review and implementation within the individual emergency response organizations of the county.
